The Sri Lankan innings was built around a devastating knock by Sanath Jayasuriya who smashed 88 runs off just 44 balls, with 11 fours and 4 sixes. His explosive batting in the powerplay overs set the tone for Sri Lanka’s huge total. Jayasuriya was well supported by Mahela Jayawardene who made 65 runs off just 27 balls.

In response, Kenya never got going in the chase and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. They were eventually bowled out for a paltry 88 in 19.3 overs, losing the match by a massive 172 runs. Only David Obuya and Alex Obanda  provided some resistance as the rest of the batting collapsed.
