“I want to go to the ballpark with my dad every day now”

A father who nearly lost his son on the baseball field and had to build a wall against his 'intuition' was healed by his daughter's story.

The Doosan Bears, a professional baseball team, has been fulfilling fans' wishes this season through the “Do It For You” project. The sixth recipient was Lee Yoo-jin (29), whose wish was a rather unique one: “Please give my dad his sleeping room back.

Lee Yoo-jin is part of the “No. 10 family” that supports Doosan with her father, Lee Yang-ho (62). However, there is not a single photo of the family at the ballpark. Nor did she ever “intuit” a Doosan game with her father. This is because Lee Yang-ho lost Lee Yoo-jin's brother, Lee Han-jin, at Jamsil Stadium in the past and stopped going to the ballpark after he finally found his son.

“My brother wasn't even in elementary school,” Lee said when we met at Jamsil Stadium on the 30th of last month. I heard it was in kindergarten, but it was probably before I was born. My dad came to the baseball field every day and lost my brother that day,” she said.

Although many years have passed, Lee vaguely remembers the situation. "I think I got mixed up in the subway crowd, but luckily I didn't get on the subway at the Sports Complex station. I thought I shouldn't have gotten on. That's when I heard my name being called, and I found my dad,” he recalled.

Lee wanted to visit Doosan home games with his father, 스포츠토토 but his father's past trauma prevented him from fulfilling his dream of 'family intuition'. "I love cheering for baseball with my dad, but he never went to the ballpark with me. I was so jealous when I saw my boyfriend, who got into baseball because of me, going with his parents,” Lee said.

That's when Doosan's “Do It For You” program caught her eye. “I thought my story would get 100 percent of the attention,” says Lee, who wrote her family's poem, Sita, as a wish. Our story is something that doesn't happen often, and it's a big deal for my family. I sent it in, and thankfully, I won.” ‘My dad was so happy from then on,’ he says. At home, he put on my brother's elementary school glove and threw a ball. It was always nice to see him come home in a good mood,” she smiled.

On May 30, Lee Yoo-jin's family took to the field to throw out the ceremonial first pitch and bat against the Jamsil KT Wiz. Her father, Lee Yang-ho, who has overcome trauma, delivered a powerful pitch, while her daughter, Lee Yoo-jin, stood at bat.

Lee said, “It was amazing. I have no regrets because I hit the ground better than anyone else,” and her father, Mr. Lee, said, ”I'm so happy. From now on, I will go to the baseball field every day like in the old days,” he said, smiling brightly.

Lee Yoo-jin said, “There are videos of other clubs playing baseball for the public, and I always wanted Doosan to recruit them,” adding, “It's great that Doosan introduced the Do It For You event with a bigger story than other clubs. Thanks to Doosan, I can now go to the ballpark with my father every day,” he said, expressing his gratitude to the organization.
